2018 SJES Summer Camp Overview
While creating fun, exciting and adventurous experiences for children, the mission of the Saint James’ Episcopal School Summer Camp program is to provide opportunities where children can also discover and learn. Our preschool program is designed for rising preschool and kindergarten children, ages 3 - 5. All children attending must be potty-trained and able to use the restroom facilities independently. Our elementary program is designed for rising first through sixth graders, ages 6-11. Please see more information on the camp schedule and note there are age-specific camps. 2018 Camp Schedule

Nature Camp at Chapultepec Farm
June 4 – June 8, 9AM – 3PM

Cost: $295 per session
Ages 8-11

Campers will experience nature up close. They will be encouraged to explore their surroundings, develop their awareness of our natural world, and learn about the interrelationship of all living things. Pond, stream and river life, field and woodland ecology, and crafts and games will be introduced in an informal noncompetitive atmosphere. Print the Nature Camp brochure here >

May 21 – May 25, 9AM – 12PM
Cost: $155
Ages 3-5

Grab the blueprints and we will get to work building structures and camp projects. We will learn about construction sites, tool and vehicles. We will play team-building games and build lots of creative structures. Fine motor and coordination skills will be tested and critical thinking will come into play.
May 29 – June 1 (4 day camp week), 9AM – 12PM
Cost: $100
Ages 3-5

Designed with the younger player in mind, youth-certified coaches introduce skills and techniques. Players will become more comfortable with the game while developing balance and coordination. It is a perfect introduction for children and a fun learning experience in a group-play environment.
Community Helpers
June 4 – June 8, 9AM- 12PM
Cost: $155
Ages 3-5
Let’s celebrate the people who work in our community and experience firsthand the jobs they do. Each day we will explore a new community helper and campers will learn about doctors, police officers, fire fighters, mail carriers and more. There will be special visitors, lots of role playing, games and activities.
Lego Pre-Engineering
June 11 – June 15, 9AM – 12PM
Cost: $155
Ages 3-5
Let’s learn, build and play! Using Legos, children will investigate engineering and transportation. They will design and build different types vehicles for land and space travel while exploring fundamental and age appropriate principles of engineering. Imaginations will soar and the sky’s the limit!
Music & Movement I
June 18 – June 22, 9AM – 12PM
Cost: $155
Ages 3-5
Move to the music! Join us for a week of singing, dancing, music and so much more. Children will enjoy learning new songs and playing musical instruments while engaging in imaginative play. Music and Movement camp is hands-on and created to build your preschooler’s natural love of music and creative expression.
Little Archeologists
June 25 – June 29, 9AM – 12PM
Cost: $155
Ages 3-5
Get ready for a week full of adventure, discovery and prehistoric times! Young archeologists will learn about amazing dinosaurs that lived millions of years ago, and other prehistoric animals that roamed the earth and swam the seas. We will build volcanos, create fossils, play games and conduct fossil filled archeological digs!
Outer Space
July 9- July 13, 9AM – 12PM
Cost: $155
Ages 3-5
Space is the place! Join us as we blast off to explore the solar system and beyond. We will play space games, music and crafts. We will learn what it may be like to be an astronaut, make solar system necklaces, and create our own sundials and moon rocks. We will hunt for aliens and discover the constellations.
Music & Movement II
July 16 – July 20, 9AM- 12PM

Fairies & Gnomes in the Backyard
July 23- July 27, 9AM – 12PM
Cost: $155
Ages 3-5
Ever wonder what it would be like to explore life in the Enchanted Forest? As fairies and gnomes, we will discover all things mystical through crafts, dance, drama and creative movement. We will celebrate our connection with nature and discover our own unique intuition.
Fairy Tale Adventures
July 30-August 3, 9AM-12PM
Cost $155
Ages 3-5
Children are invited on a magical journey taking them to fairytale land. Preschoolers will take part in dramatic play, fairy tale crafts and story-telling activities. From Goldilocks to Jack and the Beanstalk, campers’ understanding of classic children’s literature will be enriched and characters and stories will come to life!
Mini Med School
August 6- August 10, 9AM – 12PM
Cost: $155
Ages 3-5
Is there a doctor in the camp? Join us as we bring Mini Med School to camp! Our little doctors will use stuffed animal patients to take blood pressure readings, give “stitches”, put on a cast and make their own first aid kit, all while learning lots about what these professionals do every day!
Irish Dance & Music
August 13 – August 17
9AM – 12PM
Cost: $155
Ages 3-5
Irish dance basics will be taught by Kirstin Butke Zagorski, certified teacher and owner of the Southern Academy of Irish Dance. The basics children will be taught at camp include rhythm, balance, patterns, and simple dance concepts such as point, hop, and jump. We will also learn about Irish music and each day will include a craft focused on Irish themes.


Registration Procedures and Requirements
As soon as your registration is processed, you will receive an email confirmation. Registrations are taken on a first come, first served basis. All registrations must be completed 7 days prior to a camp start date. Otherwise, you will need to contact Karen Anderson, the SJES Camp Coordinator at summercamp@saintjamesepiscopalschool.org to confirm space or call the School Office prior to completing your registration at 540-347-3855.

All SJES camps have enrollment requirements. There is a minimum number enrollment needed for each camp and this requirement needs to be met within 7 days prior to the camp. If the minimum enrollment has not been met, SJES will notify you of the camp cancellation and all monies will be reimbursed. If your registration is received after a camp has been filled, you will be notified and your child can be placed on a wait list.
Camp Details
Campers need to bring a snack and water bottle each day. SJES is a peanut and tree-nut sensitive campus. We ask all campers to please refrain from bringing food containing nuts or food that is processed in facilities that may contain or are exposed to nuts.

All allergy and food restrictions need to be noted in the space provided on the registration form and will be addressed in detail after the registration process is complete.

SJES Summer Camps are taught by faculty members as well as staff from partnering organizations. SJES has first aid certified staff on campus during all camp hours and will assist the organizations hosting camps at our facility.

Before and After Camp Care
We are pleased to offer an extended day program for preschool campers. Before Camp Care runs from 8AM – 9AM and is $30 per week, or $24 for a four day camp. After Camp Care, known as Lunch Bunch, runs from 12PM - 1:30PM and is $40 per week, or $32 for a four day camp. Children who stay for After Camp Care will need to bring a bagged, peanut/tree nut-free lunch.
