The Elementary Aide is responsible for supporting the lead Elementary Teacher in his/her teaching. This person should be someone who exhibits a genuine nurturing, caring attitude towards all children, who can communicate effectively, and who can establish and maintain effective, professional relationships with children, faculty, staff, and families.
The Aide assists the classroom teacher in the following ways:
- Preparing lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, and equipment as directed by the teacher
- Assisting children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and to reinforce or enrich learning concepts presented by the teacher
- Supervising students in classrooms, hallways, parish hall, church, playground, and on field trips
- Working collaboratively with colleagues
- Performing classroom-based assessments as directed by the lead teacher
- Attending appropriate school meetings and special events
- Participating in appropriate committee work within the school community
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in early childhood or elementary education, child development or an equivalent area or significant experience working with young children
- Experience using technologies such as Google Suite and Apple applications and products, training in Responsive Classroom, training and experience with direct, explicit reading and writing instruction; problem-solving, inquiry-based math instruction through sense-making; and training and education in building and sustaining inclusive classrooms is highly preferred.
Upon hiring, the employee will complete the following:
- Medical form to confirm (by a doctor or physician’s assistant) the ability to meet physical demands of the job as required by Virginia licensure for the School
- Successful completion of criminal offender record information and sexual offender registry information check
- Child Abuse & Neglect: Recognizing, Reporting and Responding (+Diocesan Training)
- CPR & First Aid if required by School
- MAT Training if required by School
- 4 hours of professional development training required each year
- Responsive Classroom if required by the School

Saint James’ Episcopal School is seeking a reliable and cheerful Part-Time Lunch Assistant to help support our daily lunch program. The Lunch Assistant will assist with basic food preparation, serving, and cleanup, helping to ensure that our students enjoy healthy and delicious meals in a safe and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with basic lunch preparation (washing, portioning, simple assembly, etc.)
- Help set up serving stations and distribute meals to students
- Support cleanup of kitchen, serving areas, and lunchroom after meal service
- Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times
- Help maintain a positive and cheerful dining atmosphere for students
- Communicate and collaborate with kitchen staff, teachers, and administrators
- Perform other related duties as needed
Qualifications:
- Friendly, positive attitude and a genuine interest in working with children
- Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team
- Willingness to learn basic food prep, safe food handling, and take a food safety class
- Dependable and punctual
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light lifting (up to 25 lbs.)
- Previous food service experience a plus, but not required

Saint James' Episcopal School in Warrenton has an opening for a part-time assistant in its Extended Day (after-school care) program. The position is Monday through Friday from 11:30am - 3:30pm, supervising students ages 2-10. The assistant will help facilitate and enhance an organized and well-run extended day program; assist students in a variety of curricular activities including arts and crafts, games, and homework; build a positive relationship with students by interacting with them on a continuous basis; provide care and interact with students to ensure their social and developmental needs are met; and provide positive guidance and discipline according to school policy.

Saint James' Episcopal School is seeking caring, responsible, and flexible Substitutes to support our preschool and elementary programs (ages 2 through grade 5) on an as-needed basis. Substitutes provide continuity of instruction and supervision in the absence of regular teachers, helping maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Follow the lesson plans and classroom procedures left by the regular teacher.
- Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment aligned with school values and behavior expectations.
- Supervise students in the classroom, during transitions, at recess, and lunch as assigned.
- Communicate effectively with students and staff; seek assistance from the Front Office as needed.
- Uphold all health, safety, and emergency procedures, including attendance and student supervision policies.

Saint James’ Episcopal School in Warrenton, Virginia, is seeking a dependable and safety-minded Activity Bus Driver to transport students to field studies at Chapultepec Farm in Orlean, VA, and to other special events throughout the school year. This part-time position offers flexible hours based on scheduled trips.
The school uses a 14-passenger activity bus, which does not require a CDL.
Responsibilities:
- Safely transport students and staff to and from field studies and off-campus events

Saint James’ Episcopal School (SJES) seeks a dedicated and compassionate educator to serve as an Elementary Teacher. Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement daily, weekly, and monthly lesson plans based on the SJES curriculum
- Provide differentiated instruction in language arts, mathematics, social studies, and social-emotional learning
- Incorporate technology, hands-on activities, and project-based learning into instruction
- Foster critical thinking, collaboration, and inquiry-based learning
- Assess and document student progress; provide timely feedback and regular reports to families
- Prepare substitute teacher plans to ensure instructional continuity

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field (Master’s preferred)
