The Saint James' Preschool curriculum is play-based, developmentally appropriate, and centered on the whole child.  Our focus allows each child to learn through play, exploration, inquisitiveness, and discovery.  We use a theme-based approach and our virtues, written in our mission statement, are interwoven throughout our days.

Our Preschool program is licensed by the Virginia Department of Social Services. We offer the following programs by age:

  • 2x2s (must be age 2 by September 30)
  • Three Year-Old Preschool (must be age 3 by September 30)
  • Four Year-Old Prekindergarten (must be age 4 by September 30)

Our safe and child-friendly classrooms offer materials for advancing skills in listening, fine and gross motor movement, science, reading readiness, and math readiness. We encourage and provide opportunities for play as an important means of building skills, promoting healthy self-images, and instilling a love of learning. Our loving and experienced educators help children see the connections in learning and experiences. They are keenly aware of developmental hallmarks and milestones, and work in partnership with families to ensure the child's abilities and gifts are nurtured and developed. Children are treated as individuals with great strengths; their opinions, actions, and thoughts are respected and valued.

Our preschool program offers the following options:

2x2 and 3YO classes: two, three and five day options (the five day class is a combo class); all classes are three hours long.

4YO classes: three, four and five day options; all classes are four hours long, students eat lunch in their classrooms or may order hot lunch.
